On Tuesday, Feb. 5, America’s top high school football players will take on the best high school-age players from around the world.

The 2012 U.S. Under-19 National Team, featuring players committed to top NCAA FBS schools, will face an International Federation of American Football World Team made up of the top players from outside the United States.

  • Team USA will be led by Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga High School head coach Aaron Brady. The IFAF World Team head coach is Tuomas Heikkinen of Finland.
  • Past U.S. Under-19 National Teams have featured players who have gone on to play at NCAA FBS schools such as Texas, Nebraska, LSU, Alabama, Stanford, Virginia Tech, and Miami (Fla.).
  • The IFAF World Team features players from Mexico, Canada, Japan, American Samoa, Australia, Sweden and Spain, a number of whom are committed to NCAA FBS schools.

Under-18 and Under-16 Team USA face off against Football Canada on National Signing Day in Austin, Texas.

USA Football and Football Canada have come together to provide athletes and coaches at the Under-18 and Under-16 age groups with the opportunity to compete on the world’s stage. As the national governing bodies of the sport for their countries, USA Football and Football Canada field national teams for official international competition. Athletes who attended Team USA Regional Development Camps and Team USA National Development Weeks in 2012 have progressed through the U.S. National Team program to become eligible for their respective teams. Teams will compete Feb. 6, 2013 – National Signing Day – in Austin, Texas, in the first ever friendly match between Football Canada and USA Football at these age levels.
